Between racing to pediatrician appointments, getting a place in a crèche or finding the right baby-sitter, being young parents is far from easy. To make life easier, Le Figaro has compiled a list of the best towns in France to welcome a child. Based on a multitude of criteria, from the diversity of green spaces to the number of nursery stores, the ranking revealed that our beloved city of Lyon was the best city in which to have a baby. If you’re reluctant to move for the baby project, we’d advise you to stay…
Lyon is the best city to have a baby
Which is the best city in France for raising a child? To help future parents answer this crucial question, Le Figaro has compiled a ranking of the best cities to look after a child aged 0 to 3. Criteria include the number of available nursery places, the number of pediatricians, the number of nursery stores and pharmacies, the diversity of green spaces, as well as the average cost of an hour’s babysitting.
Unsurprisingly, it’s the capital of the Gauls that takes first place in this ranking. What sets it apart? Despite a limited number of nursery places, Lyon comes out on top thanks to its many green spaces, a wide variety of nursery stores, and good access to pediatric care.
And the other cities?
Second place went to Grenoble, followed by Montpellier. While Paris only came eighth in the ranking of France’s best cities to have a baby, Marseille was 48th… Yet another reason to settle (permanently) in Lyon!
