This article is about good beer. So we’re entering the holy of holies. The next few lines will attempt to answer this key question: where can I go for a beer in a nice place in Lyon? Don’t worry, there’s plenty to do, and despite our love of hops, this article isn’t exaggerated – and happily so! We hope you enjoy your beer, and always in moderation.
The Hopstore
If you’re looking for a bar in the Presqu’île to nibble, look no further than Le Hopstore. On the terrace or inside, enjoy tasty finger food such as nuggets, fries with around 170 choices of sauces placed directly on your table, or big family burgers. All with beers that will exceed your expectations and the most pleasant service.
📍 27 Rue de la Martinière, Lyon 1
Le Wallace
Let’s get down to business. This is one of Lyon’s best pubs in the “PUB” sense of the word. That is, live matches, wooden tables, a selection of tasty burgers and… the best beers. Here you’ll find everything you need to quench your thirst, and everything you need to get riled up for a game of rugby or soccer. The ultimate bar for 6 Nations or Champions League aficionados.
📍 2 Rue Octavio Mey, Lyon 5
Barabaar de Croix Rousse
Here’s an address that deserves our full attention. Le Barabaar de Croix Rousse is clearly an atypical place, open to all, where epicureanism seems to be the watchword. The charm? Its XXL terrace overlooking the city of Lyon, with a view that’s sure to make you want to take another round!
📍 26 Rue Jean-Baptiste-Say, Lyon 1
Le Kargo Kulte
It’s hard to describe our love of Kargo Kulte in just a few words. To give you a better idea, it’s equal to the number of liters of wine and beer we’ve drunk there on summer (and winter, and spring, and autumn) evenings. The place oozes style, with its vintage bikes and illustrations on the wall. It’s a place for good beer and delicious coffee. Happy hour from 5pm to 7pm on all pints! An absolute must.
📍 12 avenue Jean Jaurès, Lyon 7e
Le Hopper
Right next to Kargo Kulte, Le Hopper boasts a wide selection of draught beers, including gluten-free, as well as burgers and salads. An ideal place to gather a large table, whether on the terrace or indoors. We particularly appreciate the central bar, with its metal pipes that give it the air of a spaceship. All aboard!
📍 43 Cour Gambetta, Lyon 3
Welsh Beer bar
Another of Lyon’s hop hotspots, the Welsh Beer bar also ticks all the boxes for a great place to have a frothy froth with mates right in the center of town. Open every day of the year, the bar offers 14 draught taps and a privatization service. It’s the perfect place for a birthday party.
📍 12 Rue de la Monnaie, Lyon 2
Le Dr Yeast
An all-you-can-eat raclette bar in a sumptuous stone building in Croix-Rousse , that’s the promise of Le Dr Yeast. In a warm atmosphere, thanks to the layout of the tables inside, or on the terrace for chilling out, you’ll enjoy your best craft beer – at happy hour what’s more. What do the people want?
📍 6 Rue de Cuire, Lyon 4th
Le Traquenard
As its name suggests, this place is dangerously tempting… and resisting is almost impossible. With a snap of the fingers, you’ll find yourself seated, beer in hand, at Le Traquenard. Here, themed evenings are the order of the day, and everything is designed to provide a convivial atmosphere. Fans will appreciate the happy hour from 5pm to 8pm. Enjoy!
📍 39 cours de la liberté, Lyon 3
Le Bieristan
For all those who live in Villeurbanne (and everyone else), you can’t miss Le Bieristan. It’s the promise of a trip to unknown lands, to a land with the sweet scent of IPA. In addition to a charming terrace at the back of the bar, the place serves delicious tarts flambées to make Alsatians swoon. You have to see it to believe it!
📍 14 Rue Paul Lafargue, Villeurbanne
