We’re introducing you to one of the best values in town if you want to try a typical Lyon dish. With a daily special for €15 at lunchtime, it just barely fits within our selection’s budget, but honestly, the price is more than fair. Across from the Halles Paul-Bocuse, Val d’Isère awaits you with open arms, whether it’s winter or summer!
Pizzeria Maria
We all know that pizza is always a great option for eating without paying top dollar.But you might as well go to a pizzeria that takes you on a trip all the way to Italy! With Maria, take a round-trip to Naples for less than 15 euros. We highly recommend this 5-star spot.
Skepsi
Here’s a spot unlike any other. Skepsi brings all the flavors of Greece to its simple yet sophisticated cuisine. Every ingredient is carefully selected (oregano from Mount Pelion, creamy Greek yogurt, homemade puff pastries…) to offer truly unique dishes. Be sure to give it a try if you haven’t already.
The three keys to success: it’s famous, it’s original, and it’s affordable. In our selection of places to eat well in Lyon, Orizzo stands out: this Japanese restaurant, located at 64 Rue Mercière in Lyon, focuses on dishes made with fresh ingredients in an intimate setting. At lunchtime, a three-course meal (appetizer, main course, dessert) is offered for 16 €.
The epicenter of bagels in Lyon is called “Chères Cousines.” Just like the hole right in the middle of these sandwiches, this spot awaits you right in the heart of Lyon—a must-visit you’ll want to jot down in your calendar. Toké is all about serving French-style empanadas with all the trimmings. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients, a vibrant and colorful vibe, and already three locations in Lyon. It’s a huge hit. Obviously, because the food is excellent and affordable… ¡otra porfa!
Fufu Ramen
Japanese cuisine remains the ideal alternative to classic fast food for a tasty, on-the-go meal at a low price. In Lyon, the Fufu Ramen counter, located in the 1st arrondissement, offers traditional specialties ( ramen, yakisoba, chashumen, and gyoza) priced between €13 and €17. While some dishes may exceed our initial budget by just a single euro, the culinary journey is well worth it. The restaurant’s biggest selling point? It’s open from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. without a break.
Le Marélie
Off to Brittany! At Le Marélie, crispy crêpes and smoky buckwheat galettes take center stage on our plates… For just €13.90 for lunch Monday through Friday, you can choose from a selection of three galettes of the day (or the ravioli gratin—yum!) served with a sweet crêpe or creamy fromage blanc with red berry coulis.
What if, for 15 euros, we mixed sweet and savory? Classic pancakes with maple syrup, salted caramel, peanut butter, banana-chocolate pancakes, pecans, blueberry-cottage cheese—or, on the other hand, Comté cheese-ham, avocado-goat cheese, or cheddar-bacon pancakes… ranging from €8 for the sweet ones to €12 for the savory ones—might as well treat yourself!
