The Coolest Terraces in Lyon

HEAT is written in all caps, and so is our recommendation: A MUST-VISIT. If you like to have a good time without watching the clock and let yourself be swept away by the venue’s charm, HEAT is definitely the place to be. Several events are on the schedule this summer, giving us even more reasons to stop by. We love it.

Here’s one of our favorite spots in Lyon to spend the summer and unwind after a day at work. The terrace at Le Sucre is welcoming and really fun—in short, we never get tired of it. This summer, plenty of DJ sets are helping to ease this endless heat wave. So, shall we meet up there!?

Probably our favorite pick from the selection. Café Gadagne is a restaurant nestled among the rococo arcades and Roman passageways of the famous Gadagne Museums. It’s a pleasure to visit on Sundays for brunch or during the week for its delicious bistronomic menu.

If we had to tell you about one of our favorite spots in Lyon, we’d mention the terrace bar Les Muses without hesitation. The place is tucked away, sheltered from the city’s hustle and bustle, on the seventh floor of the magnificent Lyon Opera House. Here, time seems to stand still, and the culinary experience is every bit as impressive as the breathtaking view.

Okay, okay, La Barge’s terrace isn’t exactly a hidden gem… But its location on the Rhône, moored at the Quai du Général Sarrail, gives it a charm and a poetic atmosphere that never fade. Somewhat sheltered from the noise of the surrounding boulevards, it’s a must-visit at sunset.

Tucked away at the top of the Confluence shopping center, the Gourmet Bar’s splendid terrace awaits you. From there, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of western Lyon. Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon and the Saône River will unfold before you, suspended between sky and earth, as you sip a glass of wine and savor a charcuterie platter.

L’Officine is the elegant cocktail bar at the Hôtel Dieu with a subdued atmosphere! It features a beautiful terrace and a menu to suit every budget, along with regular entertainment by select artists. The setting is calm and discreet in the heart of the sublime Hôtel Dieu. Not to be missed!

Here’s one of the coolest rooftop bars in the “Capital of Gaul.” With a panoramic view of both the Fourvière Basilica and the Part-Dieu district, the view is truly breathtaking. Perfect for sipping a drink or having a coffee to reflect on your summer vacation. We highly recommend it!

A spot that sounds inviting just by its name… Formerly known as Les Terrasses de l’Antiquaille, this venue has taken on a new name: the Rooftop Têtedoie. This terrace, with its exceptional view, overlooks Lyon with its wooden-plank flooring and sunshades. An absolute must-visit where you can admire the mountains in the distance from one of Lyon’s most beautiful terraces.

Seriously, who wouldn’t want to lounge on the sofas at Mama Shelter? For Lyon’s epicureans craving rooftop nights with friends, we’ve found the perfect spot. Mama Shelter is exactly the kind of colorful, high-energy Lyon spot where it’s great to chill out.
