Christmas is a tangle of last-minute missions: the ultimate gifts, the meal, the cheese, the wine, the decorations, the tree… It’s best not to be hypersensitive or have a heart condition. As for dessert, the umpteenth headache of the year: how to make something original for this special moment in the year? Don’t fret any longer: a bakery in the 6th arrondissement of Paris is now offering… Lyon!
With Boulangerie Marcel, Fourvière or Brotteaux, it’s a piece of cake!

“Would you like to eat a bit of the west tower of the Fourvière basilica?”, “Would you like a bit of the façade of Les Brotteaux?Come on, just one floor, we’ve got to finish!”. That’s what your conversations could be like if you took a log from boulangerie Marcel, which this year takes on the look of these two iconic Lyon buildings.
As well as the visual aspect (which, frankly, is a success), the gustatory aspect also takes pride of place. Soft chocolate cookie, crunchy praline and creamy caramel insert for the Basilique; macadamia nut cookie, fleur de sel praline and Madagascar vanilla mousse for the Brotteaux… we’ve had worse! The logs are designed for 6 to 8 people. It all depends on your appetite to tackle two monuments of Lyon’s heritage! Expect to pay €70 to devour the Brotteaux and €74 for the Basilique de Fourvière. But as we all know, when you love it, you don’t count.
A bakery where you can also eat with your eyes

Of course, Boulangerie Marcel doesn’t just play with Lyon’s architecture. It also makes a point of rhyming beauty and good taste. The latest addition is a selection of trompe-l’œil fruits concealing top-quality sorbet. Yellow lemon, passion fruit, mango and even pineapple – it’s an art! A great alternative to the log if, for you, eating the Basilique de Fourvière is a sin. In addition, discover the great classics of the bakery-pastry trade in impeccable condition.
But be careful! We strongly advise against taking a look at the Instagram page if your belly is starting to cry famine… there’s enough to drive you crazy!
