
Lyon’s reputation for music is not without good reason! With its nuits sonores, festivals, nuits de fourvières and nightclubs, it’s easy to see why! And it’s because we love music that we know how to celebrate it in Lyon! Since 1982, the Fête de la Musique has transformed Lyon into a huge open-air stage. On June 21, 2025, a host of concerts await you in every arrondissement of the city! Variety, rock, jazz, reggae, electro, world music, Brazilian percussion or crazy brass bands: there’s something for everyone! And don’t forget: as well as celebrating music, we’re also celebrating summer!
1st arrondissement: Chimes, brass bands & symphony orchestra
- 🎺 Place Sathonay (6pm-00am ): Parade of original, vibrant brass bands with Super Smash Brass and Les Krapos!
- 🎼 Musée de l’Imprimerie (afternoon-evening): Jazz and acoustic folk in the heart of the galleries with artistic inspiration.
- 🔔 Hôtel de Ville (from 12:30pm): Lyon will be in music from the morning thanks to its historic carillons!
- 🎶 Place des Terreaux : Two free concerts by the Orchestre Symphonique de Lyon await you at 7pm and 9pm, featuring classical masterpieces, operetta and cult film scores.
2nd arrondissement: Electro, disco & children’s party
- 🪩 Place Bellecour – “Les Belles Vibes” (6pm-01am): Disco-house evening with Lyon DJs, food trucks and a festive atmosphere.
- 👧 Place Hubert-Mounier (from 4pm ): “Même pas Cap!” children’s party with workshops, junior concerts and a syrup bar
- 🎸 Quais de Saône (6-10pm ): four concerts in a pop, folk & rock atmosphere on Quai Saint-Antoine
- 🥁 Rue Victor-Hugo (6pm-00am): a veritable street carnival with Batucadas & Afro-Brazilian percussion.
- 🎧 L’EXT,12 au Sucre : (18h-6h) : the 4th episode of EXT.12 with a stage on the terrace for the first hours of this non-stop 12-hour evening!
3rd arrondissement: Rock, students & emerging scene
- 🎤 Place Guichard – Kiwi Festival (5:30pm): The 4 winning bands from the young talent springboard will perform in a variety of styles: rock, rap, soul and electro
- 🎸 Quai Victor-Augagneur (6-10:30pm): Pop-rock stage! Four musical spaces are set up on the upper quay, where several amateur and student groups will perform on the banks of the Rhône River
4th arrondissement (Croix-Rousse): Rock, blues & jazz in the open air
- 🎸 Place du Caillou (6pm-11pm ): For fans of rock and guitar energy, this is the place to be! The Place du Caillou offers an indie rock & pop scene from Lyon!
- 🎷Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse (6pm-10pm ): Several open-air musical spaces will be offering festive atmospheres! In particular, there’ll be a blues/jazz stage featuring local bands in a convivial urban guinguette atmosphere!
5th arrondissement: Eclectic stage & conservatory talent
- 🎶 Place Saint-Jean (6pm-00am): For six hours, local bands in a variety of styles (rock, folk and hip-hop) will take to the stage! These concerts are organized by MJC Vieux-Lyon.
- 🎓 CRR de Lyon – Conservatoire (18h-00h ): Classical ambience with an open stage for students, orchestras and choirs in the garden and halls of the Conservatoire.
7th arrondissement: Pop-rock & electro stage
- 🎧 Place Jean-Jaurès (6-11pm ): Mini-concerts every 20 minutes – pop, rock, electro, street bands
- 😎 La Commune du 7e (12pm-3am): an XXL edition with 15 hours of festivities, including two indoor stages (hit machine and electro) and an open-air stage in the street (afrobeat).
8th arrondissement: Funk, circus & jam session
- 🎪 Place du Bachut (5:30-11:30 p.m.): Circus & tap opening followed by a musical demonstration from the Conservatoire, a jam session at 8 p.m. and then we close the evening with explosive funk with Big Funk Orchestra at 10 p.m.
9th arrondissement: Reggae, dub & neighborhood scene
- 🌍 Place de Roquette – Reggae festival (12pm-11:30pm): Relaxed atmosphere with Jamaican rhythms, sound systems, DJs, local artists and a finale with an international guest (Brother Culture).
- 🎵 MJC de la Duchère (6:30pm-10:30pm): the panoramic terrace of the MJC is transformed into a concert stage for the evening. On the hill of La Duchère, you can enjoy local pop, rap, and rock concerts with a panoramic view
- 🔔 Église Saint-Pierre de Vaise (11am): Traditional carillon concert. The carillonneur will ring the bells with a varied program of classical and popular melodies!
As you can see, whatever your musical style or neighborhood, Lyon offers you a multitude of choices to celebrate music the way it should be! And if you can’t decide, the best thing to do is stroll the streets, stopping wherever the sound calls! See you in front of the stage!
