Tableware from Brasserie Georges at rock-bottom prices
So, on Saturday, March 28, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., everyone is invited to take home tableware from Brasserie Georges, and the prices are almost too good to be true. Prices start at €3 for secondhand items and €8 for new ones. Enough to give a famous Scandinavian brand a run for its money—with history and charm to boot!
Because when you take Brasserie Georges tableware home , it’s more than just a set of plates or an assortment of earthenware— it’s 190 years of Lyon gastronomy and just as many servings of choucroute garnie, the restaurant’s signature dish! We also learn that the event is part of an anti-waste initiative and that the sets showing the most wear and tear will be given away for free.
Brasserie Georges, 190 years in business

This makes it the oldest restaurant in Lyon and, at the same time, the largest brasserie in France! Opened in 1836, it has seen its fair share of famous faces! Émile Zola, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Édith Piaf, and Jacques Brel, to name just a few. Its doors opened amid the turmoil of Lyon during the Canuts’ revolts. In 1836, photography had barely been invented, Victor Hugo had just written *Notre-Dame de Paris*, and Vincent van Gogh wasn’t even born yet—that says it all! That’s why the “BG” (or “Georges”) is legendary to all Lyonnais.
