It’s back-to-school time, and back-to-school means shopping! Whether you need new notebooks to write in, a new suit to feel good when you’re back from vacation, or furniture to decorate your new apartment, there’s a good reason to visit Lyon’s biggest braderie: the Lyon Braderie Festival, taking place this year from October 11 to 13.
Lyon Braderie Festival: 5 kilometers of shopping over 3 days in Lyon
If you’re not familiar with the concept, think of it as an open-air shopping temple. From the bottom of the Pentes de la Croix-Rousse to the Confluence, entirely pedestrianized for the occasion, the festival promises a melting pot of shopping, know-how, sharing and encounters.
On the program: over 500 merchants and artisans await your bargains with 4 distinct hubs of activity. Here they are
1. L’Open Air de Sathonay, Place Sathonay, Lyon 1er with storytellers, musicians, workshops, wooden games, construction games, water games and soap bubbles until 6pm, then a dance floor with DJ sets until 11pm! (Saturday: 11am-11pm and Sunday: 11am-6pm.)
2. Le Food Court de République, Place de la République, Lyon 2e with 15 local restaurateurs and a relaxing area where you can meet the chefs of the Presqu’île (Friday and Saturday: 11am-9pm, Sunday: 11am-6pm).
3. Le jardin des Jacobins, place des Jacobins, Lyon 2e, in bloom for the occasion. (Saturday and Sunday: 11am-6pm.)
4. The Marché de Confluence, Lyon 2e, with its Pôle de Commerces et de Loisirs, where you’ll be able to take advantage of 100 brands and other exclusive offers in various stores that will be in “braderie” mode for the event. The bargain-hunters among you will also be delighted to find second-hand goods at a flea market and garage sale. (Friday and Saturday: 10am-8pm, Sunday: 11am-7pm).
