This is the largest citizen-led mobilization for the planet. Every year at the end of March, thousands (even millions!) of buildings around the world will be plunged into darkness, and all citizens are also invited to take a positive action for the planet.
Earth Hour, a global initiative organized by the WWF

It’s time to dig out your headlamp and the candles from last December 8th! Lyon will be plunged into darkness this Saturday, March 28, at 8:30 p.m. for one hour. The event is meant to symbolize the impact of our excessive energy consumption in the face of a growing collective awareness of climate change.
In total, 370 sites across the city of Lyon will temporarily have their streetlights turned off to support the initiative. City Hall, the Palais de la Bourse, the Théâtre des Célestins, numerous bridges…so get ready to see the city of the Lumière brothers from a different angle. Wouldn’t this be the perfect opportunity to head to a darkened theater and enjoy the best prices?
An event that concerns us all

Whether you love the movies or not, Earth Hour is a collective initiative that allows everyone to do something positive for the planet. Spending a Saturday night by candlelight, walking or biking home, being mindful of waste sorting… there’s no shortage of ways to get involved. One hour a year won’t change the face of the world, but if those 3,600 seconds can make us realize just as many times that we need to take action, it will be a battle won.
The City of Lyon does, however, remind everyone that for everyone’s safety and to ensure operations run smoothly, functional lighting ( streetlights, traffic lights, etc.) will, of course, remain on.
