In September, it’s back to business as usual after two months of heat, vacations and endless naps. Only, September is coming back to catch you in the routine. But don’t panic! We’ve put together a list of the best things to do in Lyon this autumn, so you can extend your vacations a little longer.
1. Forum des Associations
Lyon has a huge network of associations! Whatever your skills, they’ll always be in demand. So if you’d like to get involved in an association that’s just like you, it’s happening on Saturdays September 7 and 14, and Sunday September 8! 2. The Mont d’Or Beer festival
Who doesn’t dream of a festival dedicated to beer? Visit Mont d’Or Beer Festival has done it! On September 14 in Poleymieux, local and craft beer will be in the spotlight, with some twenty exhibitors on hand all day! Food service is also available (yum, Flemish carbonade…), and you can even take part in games and entertainment for all (even children)!
3. Candlelight concerts
Visit candlelight concerts transport you to a magical candlelit rendition of your favorite tunes! At the beginning of the new school year, a number of events are being organized both indoors and outdoors! Film music, pop-rock, classical… There’s something for everyone! We tell you more here !
4. Heritage Days
How can we talk about back-to-school events without mentioning the famous Heritage Days? For one weekend, museums and institutional buildings open their doors free of charge so you can enjoy new exhibitions and collections, or just see the inside of these buildings that are rarely entered!
5. The Lyon Biennial
The 17th Biennale d’Art Contemporain kicks off in September! From September 21 to January 5, 2025, Les voix des fleuves will invite artists to“evoke, question and pursue the subject of relationships that are forged and loosened between beings and with their environment. ” A must-see!
6. Jorja Smith concert
Known for her hits Blue Lights, Be Honest, Addicted, and Little Things, Jorja Smith, a rising star of British soul, won over the audience with her exceptional voice and hip-hop touches. Good news for her fans: the 26-year-old star will be giving an intimate concert at the Radiant Bellevue in Caluire-et-Cuire in September! Find out more here.
7. A giant open air at Hôtel Dieu
Want to enjoy the last rays of summer sunshine? See you at Hôtel Dieu! On September 7, from 3:30pm to 9:30pm, the venue will be transformed into a giant open-air venue, with a program ranging from House to Disco-House. Good vibes guaranteed!
8. La grande braderie de la Croix-Rousse
Do you like antiques? You’re in for a treat: The Grande braderie de la Croix-Rousse returns on September 14 and 15! Program: shopkeepers’ braderie, designer market, food trucks and cinema. What more could you ask for?
9. Ninkasi Festival: the return of the blind test
Attention blind test fans: the Ninkasi blind test is back in September! Come and test your musical culture in teams on rap, rock, variety and other music in all the Ninkasi stores in Lyon on September 9, 2024!
10. La Grande Récré festival in Marlieux
La Grande Récré is an intimate three-day festival dedicated to the production and musical expression of some fifteen artists from the Berlin, Paris, Rome and Lyon scenes. Join us in Marlieux from September 20 to 22 to discover this 1st edition!
