Every year, the LA LISTE gastronomic guide selects the world’s best restaurants, hotels and patisseries. On June 17, as the guide was awarding its prizes for the year 2024, we were lucky enough to see a Lyon-based establishment featured. Not surprisingly, it was in the pastry category that we excelled, thanks to the famous Maison Bernachon!
LA LISTE, a prestigious international guide
“Compiled from thousands of press publications, hundreds of guidebooks and millions of online reviews” , LA LISTE’s selection analyzes establishments worldwide in over 80 countries. In all, more than 3,000 addresses for patisseries, bakeries, afternoon teas, dessert restaurants and coffee shops are listed and scrutinized by the guide.
With 25 pastry chefs from 14 countries honored in 10 categories this year, it’s fair to say that LA LISTE really only rewards the cream of the crop. What a source of pride, then, to be represented in his prestigious ranking of the world’s best pastry shops as a Lyonnais!
La Maison Bernachon, one of the world’s finest patisseries
This year, Maison Bernachon won in the “Craftsmanship and Authenticity” Zone category! Described as a“veritable institution” by the guide, the brand has just celebrated its 70th anniversary and can boast of having been awarded the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label in 2017.
In Lyon, the patisserie is best known for its irresistible chocolate creations. From its entremets to the “président”, its signature cake made with sponge cake, hazelnut praline ganache and cherry-candied cherries (a real treat), this is undoubtedly THE tea room where you can comfort yourself after a hard day’s work. Well done to them!
