This week, diesel prices hit an all-time high. It’s (unfortunately) possible to come across gas stations in the Rhône region charging exorbitant prices: up to €2.73 per liter—unprecedented! Fortunately, we’re providing you with the best places to find cheaper fuel and take a little pressure off your wallet.
The Rhône region ranks in the upper half of the gas and diesel price rankings for September

This September, Charente-Maritime ranks as the cheapest department in France for fuel, while Paris remains the most expensive. The Rhône department ranks in the upper half of the national rankings, with prices slightly above the French average due to the influence of the Lyon metropolitan area.
What we’re seeing is that price differences within the department are enormous. Diesel, for example, can jump from €2.25/L to €2.73/L on the highway and at certain stations within the city limits. Among the 186 retail locations listed in the Rhône by the official government website, the average price stands at €2.39 per liter.
Where can you find the cheapest gas stations?
A few weeks ago, the Saint-Laurent-de-Chamousset station (TotalEnergies) offered the best price in the entire Rhône department for both gasoline and diesel. But recently, the landscape has shifted, and several gas stations within the city limits are currently (as of September 22) offering the most competitive prices in the department:
- Relais Raclet: 112 rue de Gerland, Lyon 7th arrondissement
- Relais Lyon Berliet: 131 rue Marius-Berliet,
- Lyon 8th Relais Lyon Mermoz: 86 Avenue Jean-Mermoz,
- Lyon 8th Arrondissement, Marietton Gas Station: 111 Rue Marietton, Lyon 9th Arrondissement
- Relais Vallonnière: 100 Avenue Barthélemy-Buyer, Lyon 9th arrondissement
All these locations are TotalEnergies or TotalEnergies Access stations. You can find the same prices at the brand’s other locations in Vaulx-en-Velin, Écully, Décines-Charpieu, Saint-Fons, and Vénissieux. For the complete ranking, feel free to visit the website: https://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/
