The Tour de France 2026 (July 2026)
Although the Grande Boucle will not be passing through Lyon directly, the 2026 route will nevertheless spoil cycling aficionados. 200 years since the invention of photography
This year marks the bicentenary of the invention of photography. Although the story of photography’s beginnings spans several years, historians agree that 1826 was the year zero for photography. Invented a stone’s throw from Chalon-sur-Saône by Nicéphore Niépce , the Institut Lumière will be marking this date with a series of key events.

Moulin with Gilles Lellouche (October 28, 2026)
This is one of the most eagerly awaited films of 2026. Because it traces the life and destiny of one of the greatest heroes of 20th-century France, and will be played by one of the greatest actors of his generation. Gilles Lellouche takes on the role (and the hat) of Jean Moulin for a film closely linked to Lyon that promises to be epic.
