We all remember the taste of Flamby in the canteen… the one with the tab under the pot that you turned over on the plate still full of mashed potatoes. But this Proust’s madeleine makes us forget the taste of real flan pâtissier. The one our grandmothers used, which nevertheless seems to be regaining its letters of nobility in 2025. It is increasingly gracing bakeries and restaurant menus, becoming the darling of gourmets and even having its own competition! On April 26 and 27, Lyon will be the setting for the 3rd edition of Le Meilleur Flan Pâtissier. Come and thrill to the flan!
An unsurpassed flan competition
“What do you do for a living?” “I make flans! It’s a phrase that might have been has-been in 1996, but it’s becoming increasingly fashionable. Flan bars, Insta accounts and other influencers are getting hold of the phenomenon. This competition is further proof. The next edition will take place in the cradle of gastronomy. That’s right: Lyon. The two-day event will feature a day dedicated to amateurs on April 26, and another reserved for professionals the following day. Needless to say, if you want to taste flan, this is the place to do it! A flan bar will be open, and all proceeds will be donated to the Hôpital Femme Mère Enfant in Bron.
