We’ve found the perfect solution to stay cool and enjoy nature in a truly unique setting. We’re taking you deep into the forest on a trail that smells of nature in the heart of the Beaujolais region: the Forêt des Expériences.
The Forest of Experiences: a romantic getaway like no other
A 3.5-kilometer trail awaits us beneath the canopy of the Cantinière Forest, in the town of Chambost-Allières. Created bythe National Forest Service—the guardian angels of our local jungles—the trail offers an immersion into the fascinating world of forests. All too often perceived as a “nightmare factory,” the forest nevertheless remains the ultimate proof of nature’s inexhaustible fertility. The assortment of trees, the variety of colors on the forest floor, the play of light…
In all, there are seven themed stations created by numerous local trades and artisans waiting for visitors. The goal: to reconnect with the forests through sensory workshops. Listening to nature, observing wildlife, or even gazing at a gigantic beech tree… that’s the plan for the day.
The highlight of the show? Without a doubt, this pier—just like the ones found along our coastlines—inviting us to gaze out toward the horizon. But this time, the sea surrounding it isn’t blue—it’s green. And as we all know, gazing at beautiful trees has always been comforting: slowness, balance, the rustling of leaves—everything we sorely lack in our daily lives. And that silence! You could hear a pin drop. As if by osmosis, we emerge feeling calm and recharged.
Beaujolais, a land of 1,001 treasures
The Forêt des Expériences is the “tree that hides the forest” of the Beaujolais. As you know, this region is brimming with all the treasures that human life needs: beauty, goodness, and truth. From the Forêt des Expériences, you’re just a stone’s throw from Lac des Sapins, in case the idea of a quick dip suddenly strikes you. Otherwise, be sure to visit the magnificent villages of the Pierres Dorées: Oingt, one of the most beautiful villages in France; Jarnioux, known for its castle ; Ternand, a small village entirely designated as a historic monument; and Châtillon, renowned for its exceptional preservation.
