We received no fewer than 300 comments, some of which—clearly written in the heat of the moment—must have been penned just before sitting down to eat. Alongside other institutions like La Meunière, Café Lobut, Le Garet, and Chez Abel, this spot was also mentioned numerous times, as it stands out thanks to its unbeatable value for money in the capital of Gaul.
Chez Mounier: 40 years of traditional, home-style cooking
Let’s step inside this Lyon institution waiting for us on Rue des Marronniers, just a stone’s throw from Place Bellecour. For over 40 years , the restaurant has been delighting both regulars and newcomers with its traditional, hearty cuisine. The place is one of the few guardians of the legacy of Lyon’s home cooks— that warm, no-frills, and certainly inimitable hospitality. Here, you get a taste of Lyon! Lyonnaise salad, tablier de sapeur, quenelles, calf’s head, Saint-Marcellin from Mère Richard, not to mention the praline tart that graces the tables of this quintessentially Lyonnais spot.
And if the sun is shining, you’ll even have the luxury of dining outside on the terrace. We’d bet our bottom dollar that you won’t be able to help but say , “Isn’t this just lovely?”

Because Chez Mounier has built its reputation on pillars far more solid than a TikTok page. People come here, and since they’re usually satisfied, they come back.
