Although our beloved city has its share of advantages, its evolution is even more satisfying! Indeed, Lyon’s Presqu’île is being transformed into a true metropolitan heart, combining quality of life, economic dynamism and ecological transition! The Presqu’île à Vivreproject, spearheaded by the Metropole de Lyon, the City of Lyon and Sytral Mobilités, is rethinking the uses of this emblematic area to make it more pleasant, greener and better connected. But even if, like you, we can’t wait, we’re going to have to be a little patient, as the project is due to be fully completed in 2030!
The aim? To improve quality of life and mobility for all.
From Place des Terreaux to Bellecour, the first developments are already visible: streets are being greened, pedestrian zones are being extended and traffic is being calmed. The Hôtel de Ville, Cordeliers-Grenette and Jacobins-Bellecour sectors are benefiting from new convivial spaces, and this summer, the Rue de la République will become entirely pedestrianized, encouraging strolling and soft mobility!
With this project, the city of Lyon is keen to rethink the heart of the city so that mobility flows more smoothly and Lyonnais.es enjoy more modern and pleasant spaces. From June 2025, traffic will be reorganized to facilitate access and travel! The bus network will be strengthened with the arrival of the C23 line linking the Presqu’île to the Cité Internationale and Villeurbanne. Above all, new interchanges such as Cordeliers will boost connections between bus and metro. Continuous pedestrian promenades, safe bicycle paths, limited traffic zones… Everything is designed to promote sustainable mobility, reduce nuisance and preserve accessibility for local residents, shopkeepers and professionals.
