Eating at a bouchon remains a pleasure for all Lyonnais. The red-and-white checkered tablecloth, the owner in an apron behind the counter, the wooden chairs, the closely spaced tables, the pots hanging on the wall… the bouchon is a world unto itself that’s impossible to capture (even with “what-ifs”). Not to mention its cuisine—the bouchon alone is enough to make our mouths water. Try doing the same with a pizzeria or a sushi restaurant: you won’t be able to. So let’s be proud of our culinary heritage and celebrate it as often as possible… “Bon appétit and cheers”!

Well known to Lyon residents, Café Comptoir Lobut has just won the award for best bouchon of 2025. And when you take a closer look, it’s easy to see why. It’s a small revolution in the world of local cuisine. Le Bouchon Alsacien, as its name suggests, pays homage to sauerkraut and Alsatian charcuterie rather than Lyon-style quenelles and praline tart. In any case, the place has just opened and is already a hit. It’s easy to see why, given that in the kitchen is, among others, Jacky Gallman, a native of Alsace and former director of the legendary Brasserie Georges.
