The Lyonnais duo struck hard. Under the watchful eye of a jury of experts presided over by Michel Sarran, the famous starred chef from Toulouse, the audience witnessed an evening full of twists and turns. On Monday, January 20, at the Rex in Toulouse, five establishments competed for the prize for best cassoulet. What looked like a simple formality for the local participants turned into a real drama when the results were announced. After meticulous tasting and lengthy deliberation, the jury finally crowned the Lyonnais from the Hôtel Pullman Lyon Part-Dieu world champions. Timothée Déguingand and Nicolas Ferrand: these two names have just entered the pantheon of cassoulet. Ironically, we learned that the duo had signed up at the last minute, replacing a team that had fallen short…

Phew of relief for the Toulousans. It was during the “Prix du Public” that their honor was saved. Maison Pardailhé, located in Roquettes, south of Toulouse, lived up to the public’s expectations. Despite a few differences of opinion between the jury and the audience, the evening unfolded in a friendly, good-natured atmosphere. The comedy duo Les Chevaliers du Fiel performed brilliantly, keeping the audience on its toes throughout the ceremony. See you in 2026 to find out if Toulouse can bring the cup home…
