Admittedly, this article has been easier to write… Lyon is brimming with excellent restaurants, and making a selection was no easy task. First, we conducted an in-depth survey at the Lyon Secret editorial office to come up with a shortlist of our favorites. We simply added a pinch of theMichelin Guide, a zest of The Fork and a spoonful of Fooding recommendations. The result is a list of tried and tested addresses that seem to be the very essence of the Lyon we love, the Lyon of the plate and the Lyon of appetite. This list does not follow any order or classification, all these addresses are to be discovered. It’s a must.
Le Café Lobut (Bouchon)
Just voted best bouchon 2025. Café Lobut is a true institution that, since 1949, has seduced many mouths and satisfied many appetites! We particularly recommend the Lyonnais hot sausage or the apron sapeur, one of the house’s great classics. Now, enough talking and let’s eat!

Bouillon Baratte (Brasserie)
Here’s an establishment “à la bonne franquette” just the way we like it. The Bouillon Baratte brasserie is a friendly, popular bouillon that perfectly blends the simple with the generous. The menu exudes the traditional cuisine of our grandmothers: andouillettes, quenelle, coquillettes, beef carrots… it’s all B.O.N.!

Gojo (Ethiopian)
If you’re looking for a taste of new flavors, go to Gojo in the 3rd arrondissement. An address that lets us discover the richness of Ethiopian cuisine. Gonzague (Burgers)
A burger in Lyon’s best restaurants? Yes, you’ve got to see it (and taste it to believe it), but at Gonzague’s, the burger is back in the limelight, to our great delight. It’s simple: everything here is designed to make the burger bite a fantasy, and it is. Hyper-local bakery bread, products sourced entirely from our beloved Rhônes Alpes region, and the icing on the cake: homemade fries as much as you like! You’ve guessed it, the perfect address for a big burger with friends and to satisfy the glutton in the bunch!

A true Lyon legend on a par with Paul Bocuse, Eugénie Brazier was the first chef to be awarded the precious sesame of 3 Michelin stars. Le Casse Museau (Bouchon)
Quite simply, this is our favorite Lyonnais bouchon. It’s no coincidence that it was ranked 32nd among the best restaurants in France. Founded in 1947, the restaurant opts for simple cuisine. And it’s prodigiously delicious, period.

La Bascule (French)
La Bascule is a restaurant serving traditional, seasonal cuisine. So you won’t eat the same thing if you come on November 27 as if you came on July 5. In winter, the restaurant an all-you-can-eat raclette formula refined by a MOF. For this reason alone, the restaurant, just a stone’s throw from the Parc de la Tête d’Or, is well worth the detour.
