We’ll admit it, we’ve written easier articles… Lyon is brimming with excellent restaurants, and narrowing them down was no small feat. First, we conducted an in-depth survey among the Lyon Secret editorial team to identify the so-called “spontaneous recognition” spots, some of which were clearly unanimous favorites. Then, we set out on a pilgrimage to explore the streets of Lyon and visit the establishments that were missing from our selection. All of this led us to these tried-and-true spots, the very essence of the Lyon we love—the Lyon of fine dining and hearty appetites, with a capital A in both. Note that this list is in no particular order or ranking: all these spots are worth discovering, and you’d better hurry!
It has been voted the best bouchon of 2025. Café Lobut is a true institution that, since 1949, has delighted countless palates and satisfied countless appetites! We especially recommend the warm Lyonnais sausage or the tablier de sapeur, a classic house specialty. Enough talk—let’s dig in!
🍴 Between €25 and €35 for an appetizer, main course, and coffee
🍝 Our recommendation: Le Tablier de Sapeur
⏰Open daily except Sundays and Mondays from 12 PM to 2 PM and 7 PM to 10 PM

Spices take center stage: a culinary journey at an affordable price. Opened in 2024, Accentué quickly earned a spot in our selection of the best restaurants in Lyon thanks to its Bib Gourmand award. Maria (Pizzeria)
Maria gives you the chance to eat the best pizzas of your entire life. The secret? Authentic expertise, fresh, high-quality ingredients (flour from Italy, Grana PDO, Mozzarella di Bufala PDO, meats from Boucherie Tête Bech in Croix-Rousse, etc.), and of course, a whole lot of love. You get the picture: the best place in Lyon to treat yourself without breaking the bank. Benvenuto!

🍝 Our recommendation: Pizza Vomero

La Meunière restaurant has just joined the very exclusive circle of restaurants featured in the Michelin Guide, and when you look at the plate, you understand why. Here, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. You can enjoy high-quality cuisine in a casual setting at very reasonable prices. You should also stop by in the morning for the famous mâchons! One of our favorite spots in Lyon.

Bouillon Baratte (Brasserie)
Here is a down-to-earth spot just the way we like it. The Bouillon Baratte brasserie is a friendly, popular spot that perfectly blends simplicity and generosity. The menu exudes the traditional cooking of our grandmothers: andouillettes, quenelles, coquillettes, beef and carrots… everything is DELICIOUS!
🍴 Average price: between €20 and €35 (meal and drink)
🍝 Our recommendation: Beaujolais andouillette with mustard sauce
⏰ Open daily from 12 PM to 11:30 PM
Frazarin (Bistro)
When Italian and French cuisine decide to join forces, it usually makes for a (very good match). Frazarin is the perfect proof of this. Here, expect to find the generosity and richness of French cuisine combined with Italian flavors and techniques. Here, everything is homemade (of course) and, honestly, everything is (truly) delicious.

Gojo (Ethiopian)
If you’re looking to sample new flavors, head to Gojo in the 3rd arrondissement. A spot that lets you discover the full richness of Ethiopian cuisine. Opened in June 2023 by a mother and daughter, the dishes are a unique blend of flavors and colors. It’s a real treasure to be able to eat lesser-known dishes and share a truly convivial moment. We highly recommend Gojo!

🍝 Our recommendation: Le beg wot (lamb stew)

Gonzague (Burgers)
A burger at one of Lyon’s best restaurants? You bet! You have to see it (and taste it to believe it), but at Gonzague, the burger regains its former glory, much to our delight. It’s simple: everything here is designed to make that first bite of the burger a dream come true—and it is. Bread from a hyper-local bakery, ingredients sourced entirely from our beloved Rhône-Alpes region, and the cherry on top: all-you-can-eat house-made fries! You get the picture— it’s the perfect spot to dig into a massive burger with friends and satisfy the biggest foodie in the group!
🍴 Between €20 and €30 (meal and drink)
🍝 Our recommendation: The Savoyard burger

Mère Brazier (gourmet – 2 Michelin stars)
If you ever have the chance to dine at a “gastro” restaurant in Lyon, go to Mère Brazier. A true Lyon legend on par with Paul Bocuse, Eugénie Brazier was the first female chef to earn the coveted three Michelin stars. Her legacy is carried on by Mathieu Viannay in this exceptional venue where, as you might imagine, nothing is left to chance. A place that is simply the stuff of dreams.
🍴 Lunch special €98 / Eugénie Brazier menu €185 (excluding drinks)
🍝 Our recommendation: Bresse chicken “demi-deuil” with truffles
⏰ Open Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM and from 7:45 PM to 9:15 PM
Gratins (French)
Be sure to check out Gratins, the temple of ravioli. The name alone is enough to evoke the warm, welcoming feel of the menu. Here, the ravioli is pampered until it lands on our plate, only to be—unfortunately for it—devoured! A friendly spot to check out ASAP.
🍴 Meals + coffee: between €20 and €25
❤️ Ravioli gratin with St. Marcellin cheese (XL size, of course)

Monsieur Kim (Korean)
Here’s a spot that’s anything but ordinary. Kim Namheon, aka Mr. Kim, welcomes you to his restaurant nestled in the heart of Old Lyon. Just like at Frazarin, it’s all about fusion—this time blending the excellence of Korean cuisine with the finest local French ingredients. Here you’ll enjoy unique dishes like bulgogi or Dak-gomtang, a simply succulent soup. A must-try!
