The Brignais CGR cinema is also one of Lyon’s leading 7th art venues. Although out of the way, it remains one of the locals’ favorite choices for seeing the latest cinematic masterpiece. And for good reason: equipped with top-of-the-range technology like its predecessor, with 20-meter screens and a constantly diversified Program, it’s an exceptional choice. Especially when you know that tickets are €7.80!

3. Lumières cinemas
In Terreaux, Bellecour and the 3rd arrondissement, the cinémas Lumières are Lyon-based institutions. What’s on? From auteur and often independent films to classic comedies and cinematic masterpieces, it’s all here. The program is always carefully selected. No frills here either: no more drinks or popcorn. Here, we eat, drink and breathe cinema. Full price is €8.90. 4. Comoedia cinema
Nine screens, 1,200 seats, a polished program and a history dating back to the First World War… that’s what makes this an exceptional cinema! Established in the capital of the Gauls for over 100 years, the Comoedia has managed to retain its insubstantial soul, alternating between auteur films in their original version and the latest, hottest releases. Closed in 2003, it happily rose from the ashes in 2006. Today, it’s a cinema you go to as a cinephile, a curious neophyte or just a lover of good cinema. Prices range from €4.50 for concessions to €9.10.

5. Le Zola cinema
A little treasure in Villeurbanne, this independently-run cinema offers a varied arthouse program. Small but very welcoming, here cinema is the passion of a lifetime. Screenings adapted for the visually and hearing impaired, special attention paid to schoolchildren and young audiences, three festivals a year, and above all attractive prices,that’s Le Zola. The cost of a ticket varies from €5.10 to €7.20.

6. The Lumière Institute cinema
Last but not least, programming for the Lumière Institute would make any film lover blush. This is where cinema was born, where the first film in history was shown, where the frères lumières had their quarters and to whom the famous Festival Lumière owes its name. So, as you can imagine, here we watch unknown masterpieces and retrospectives, debate, meet new people and educate ourselves. Full-price tickets are no more than €8.50. A little jewel that is the pride of the City of Lights.
