Beaujolais Nouveau, the rapid return of raclettes and tartiflettes, the end-of-year festivities… This last quarter of the year promises to be, well… busy. Given the schedule, you might as well take the bull by the horns and head to the Salon des Vins des Vignerons Indépendants this weekend to stock your cellar with the best bottles and impress your father-in-law at Christmas, or your best buddy who’s supposed to be an expert in nat’ wines. In any case, 428 independent winemakers will be there for you at the Halle Tony Garnier – exciting!
The Salon des Vins des Vignerons Indépendants at Halle Tony Garnier
Burgundy, Beaujolais, Alsace, Bordeaux, Rhône Valley, Loire Valley, Languedoc-Roussillon… there’s no shortage of stables to choose from. This weekend, you’ll be able to tour the entire French wine-growing region without leaving Lyon. When it comes to assortment, you’ll be stunned: red, white, rosé, AOP, organic or IGP… It’s terrible, but you’ll have to choose. That’s where the show differs from a supermarket shelf: you’ll be able to talk directly to the producers. What better way to make your choices?
After all, it’s a marathon that awaits visitors this weekend, with no fewer than 428 independent winegrowers present: that’s a lot. Whether you’re a connoisseur or just curious, there’s everything you need to have a great time: introductory tasting sessions, seated catering and even a complimentary tasting glass. Want to spend your entire November paycheck there? Don’t worry, there will be carts to move your shopping and a loading zone to bring your vehicle close by.
Supporting the independent winegrowing sector
Or how to combine business with pleasure. When you buy at the show, you’re supporting winegrowers who don’t work with local authorities or central purchasing agencies. There are no salesmen or supermarket representatives here. Here, you shake hands with the person who produced what you’re about to drink. The bottles come out of the cellar, and it’s by talking directly to the producer that you’ll discover so much when you uncork the wine at home.
There are no neon and banner maxi-stands here; all exhibitors have the same shelf space. The appellations are mixed to encourage the discovery of different terroirs. In short, this is an event that promotes the values of diversity and gastronomic richness around wine.
