March is here, and with it comes a host of well-founded hopes: the clocks change and the season changes in about twenty days, which should give us time to prepare for the activities ahead. This is by far the one to do. Imagine: thousands of years of erosion by wind and water to build this incredible masterpiece. Have you always dreamed of playing Indiana Jones? Here are the amazing Devil’s Bridge Gorges!
The Devil’s Bridge Gorges: 10,000 years of history and just as many reasons to visit

No need to go to the United States or New Zealand to be amazed. Our region has treasures worthy of Monument Valley and even The Lord of the Rings. Who can beat that? After the Gorges du Fier near Annecy, the Cascades du Hérisson waterfalls and the Cirque de Saint-Même, it’s time to visit the Gorges du Pont du Diable, a stone’s throw from Yvoire, for a journey to the center of the Earth. Listed as part of the UNESCO Chablais Global Geopark, they have been in operation since 1893!
We learn that the Gorges du Pont du Diable were formed under a glacier around 10,000 years ago, linking them to the history of our Gros Caillou in Lyon and the Choulans Mammoth! Anchored in the rock, the walk reveals an incredible natural wonder. Like immense draperies, the rock walls reveal themselves in a harmony that only nature knows the secret to. Excavations give way to passages encased in a tangle of geological curiosities. The highlight of the show: an isolated block perched about thirty meters above the swirling torrent, the famous “Devil’s Bridge.” And to add even more magic, the light (especially in the morning) creates a mosaic of blue, gray, ocher, and green. A real treat.
A 60-meter-high glass structure for the most daring
How about a little trip 60 meters above the void? You don’t become Indiana Jones in the blink of an eye! The site invites you to push your limits with this footbridge called the “Devil’s Step.”
But why are they called the “Devil’s Bridge Gorges”? Is there a curse behind the name? Not really. In Europe, the term “Devil’s Bridge” is commonly used to describe daring constructions over deep valleys. So rest assured: there are no bad vibes here, just a devilishly stunning landscape!
The Devil’s Bridge Gorges will open on April 1, 2026. Just a little more patience, but we promise it will be worth the wait!
