Don’t panic—the site offers an “à la carte” option where, just like at any good restaurant in Lyon, you can settle for a starter for a short hike, or go all out with the full-course menu for the big loop!
The Himalayan-style footbridges of Lake Monteynard-Avignonet

Welcome to a little paradise just outside Lyon. The kind of place where the famous saying “you have to see it to believe it” really rings true. Because trust us, this place is absolutely fantastic. What strikes you most here is the tranquility of the surroundings, and then, of course, its beauty. As if fallen from the sky, this natural amphitheater transports you straight into those computer wallpapers that seem unreal. A moment suspended in time—no pun intended— where the hardest part is managing to come back down to earth…
Nestled in the heart of the Vercors Regional Nature Park, between the Alps and Provence, this destination offers everything you need for a successful getaway from Lyon. With excursions, hikes, and water sports, Lake Monteynard-Avignonetoffers the best of France for a refreshing day in the great outdoors.
A playground suitable for the whole family

Let us reassure you right away: you don’t need to channel your inner Tarzan or Indiana Jones to go on this hike— let’s leave the superheroes safely tucked away at the Musée Miniature et Cinéma in Lyon! Here, the hike is suitable for everyone, regardless of age.
The site is designed to suit all skill levels. Are you in top shape and not afraid of a challenge? Opt for the 12-km loop that takes you through the Drac and Ebron gorges via the two footbridges. The recommended route suggests taking a boat (for a fee) to start from the other bank and return to your starting point. You can also start directly from the parking lots on the lakefront on the Treffort side and do a round-trip route. Allow 4.5 hours to complete the 12 km.
Prefer to take it easy—and tightrope walking has never been your thing? No problem—you can easily start the hike from the parking lot, stop at the first Ebron footbridge, and still enjoy the spectacle and the view…
