It’s 2025 and he’s 25, and the stars seem to be aligning for Quentin Mauro. After a hard-fought battle in a high-stakes final, the young chef can finally breathe a sigh of relief… but not for long, because as of this Thursday, July 3, he’s back in the kitchen with the opening of a short-lived gourmet restaurant. So you see: strike while the iron is hot. With this talented chef, the expression takes on its full meaning. Chaud devant!
A Top Chef 2025 edition in style
This season of Top Chef lived up to all its promises. According to the show’s aficionados, the standards have never been higher. The new association with the Michelin Guide, for example, enabling candidates to be assessed by the inspectors, demonstrates production’s determination to make Top Chef the leading stable of gastronomic talent in France. The dual challenge of training the best chefs while entertaining millions of French people is the real strength of the show.
And when we look back, mission accomplished for M6. Since 2010, almost 30 candidates have been awarded a Michelin star. They include Stéphanie Le Quellec, Mory Sacko and Camille Delcroix, as well as Adrien Cachot, Sarah Mainguy and Tabata Mey. As for the show’s success, it’s still going strong: ratings for Top Chef have never been as high as they are this year.
Quentin Mauro, from Haute-Savoie, doped with Lyon sauce
Born in Annecy, the young prodigy took up cooking at the age of 14 after a family tragedy – the loss of his mother. Shaken but not devastated, Quentin Mauro began his ascent in the kitchen as one would climb a mountain peak: with patience and determination. He forged his genius in Lyon, passing through some of the finest restaurants in the capital of Gaules: the Intercontinental, then two Michelin-starred restaurants, Miraflorès and Prairial, which propelled him to the heights of success.
A new star was born last night during the final of Top Chef on M6. The constellation of Lyonnais gastronomy has an umpteenth star in its sky. We can only be delighted.
A short-lived restaurant for a new Michelin star?
The young chef doesn’t have both feet in the same hoof, to say the least. As of today, a restaurant set up on a barge in the town of Asnières-sur-Seine will be open for the summer. With 40 covers, the kitchen will be just like the young chef: daring. His final menu will cost €95. Needless to say, the restaurant is already sold out.
Behind this happening, the young chef is giving himself a showcase to attract all eyes. The eyes of his fans, of course, but also those of institutions such as the Michelin Guide… With a new star on the way to his first star, the sky looks particularly bright for Quentin Mauro.
